The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has integrated its job listing into the general State of Wisconsin database. Select Education (or any government agency) from Categories, and identify the education sector (e.g., K-12 [and subcategory], College/University [and subcategory], etc.). Note: A user ID and password are required for some job seeking activities (e.g., creating online applications, profile updates, advanced search, etc.). CareerOneStop (U.S. Department of Labor/state of Minnesota)
Public access. (CareerOneStop is an alternative site for America's Job Bank, which was discontinued on July 1, 2007.) Find Your State Job Bank through a clickable map or drop-down menu. Major directories for Employers and Job Seekers are included. Additional directories are related to career exploration, occupations, education, salary, etc. The Resumes and Interviews directory provides useable information for first-time and transitional job seekers.

USAJOBS (U.S. Office of Personnel Management)
Use the various options within the Job Search database to identify federal employment opportunities by using keyword searches and alphabetical lists. Register (SS# required) and use the Résumé Builder (post and edit), and take advantage of other services such as online applications and an e-mail notification service.

Caveat. Users of commercial or noncommercial online résumé services and job "agents" should review the privacy policy of the company or organization.

DirectEmployers (Employment Search Engine E-Recruiting Association, Inc., Indianapolis, IN)
A no cost service for job seekers--underwritten by member companies of the E-Recruiting Association, which is a nonprofit organization. Job seekers can register for an account with DirectEmployers, and use this service to: create and post an online résumé manage your résumé, use the Web sites of companies to submit a job application, create a personal "job agent," develop preferences for scheduled job searches, participate in forums or discussion boards, and take advantage of other job-related services.
Find jobs or applicants posted in the "public" section of Also, you may register, create a résumé, and have it posted on the public section without a fee.

NationJob Network
A database with current job listings and company profiles. Job searches may be conducted with or without an email address. The interface to the databases allows the user to enter relevant specifications.
Job search option by state and city, and a keyword field to give more specificity to the categories that are listed. A résumé may be posted after you register (an email address is required). MedZilla provides employer and job seeker services for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and science. Job seekers can post (and update) a résumé, access a forum and articles, and search for jobs within MedZilla client companies.

The Riley Guide
The Riley Guide provides employment opportunities and job resources on the Internet. Job seekers and recruiters may post information relative to their interest in obtaining or listing a job. (Verticalnet, Inc., Horsham, PA)
Ad-supported. This site includes commercial products and services, and access to job announcements (by using their search system or list). Assessable articles include topics related to: job search strategies, résumé writing, interviewing, etc. Register as member and access their services for: job agents, résumé management, cover letters, and online storage for a job search.

Jobweb (National Association of Colleges and Employers, Bethlehem, PA
This site focuses on career development and job search options for college graduates. It has links to: job information (by field), employment centers, career offices, colleges and universities, industry information, and more. The help guides and career resources library section has links to career assessment tools and information, job search guides, résumé writing, job interviewing, career course syllabi, graduate and professional schools, etc. is a free (or ad-supported) service for individuals who are seeking administrative, faculty, and other positions at colleges and universities within the U.S. and Canada. This service includes a search option, and organized directories that make searching quick and easy.

The Chronicle of Higher Education Career Network
Job announcements from the Chronicle of Higher Education. Various search options are available. Chronicle subscribers have a "Premium Search" option, which allows electronic access to job announcements approximately one week prior to the printed version of the Chronicle. Your ID and Password are required for the Premium Search option.
