The mission of Educational Opportunity Programs (EOP), and links to relevant documents for EOP professionals.

U.S. Department of Education
Links are provided for information related to financial assistance, research, programs, publications, etc.

The Council for Opportunity in Education
The Council's mission is to advance and defend the ideal of equal educational opportunity in postsecondary education. Also, the Council provides a voice and political vehicle for professionals employed with TRIO programs.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
NCES fulfills a Congressional mandate to collect, analyze, and report on the condition of education in the U.S. Many reports and statistical tables are available online.

Search options for WI and surrounding areas; and links to county Job Centers and the Wisconsin Job Service database.

America's Job Bank (U.S. Department of Labor)
A "unique" method for identifying specific jobs within a database; however, the search results are specific. Registration is required for the Career Assistant, which allows you to create and post a résumé.

HeadHunter.net
Find jobs or applicants posted in the "public" section of HeadHunter.Net. Also, you may register, create a résumé, and have it posted on the public section without a fee.

NationJob Network
A database with current job listings and company profiles. Job searches may be conducted with or without an email address. The interface to the databases allows the user to enter relevant specifications.

Monster.com
Job search option by state and city, and a keyword field to give more specificity to the categories that are listed. A résumé may be posted after you register (an email address is required). Message boards may be view by unregistered visitors, however, registration is required for message posting and chat room options.

Career Magazine
Many tutorial and resource options that are appropriate for high school and college students, and adults who need information related to job options and career development. An option is provided to post a résumé, and visitors may read or post to a message board (without completing a registration).

Family Education Network® (Boston, MA; Founded in 1990; Web Site, 1996)
The Network is a K-12 Internet community for parents, teachers, and students. Its published mission is to "…help children succeed in school and life. This Family Education Network provides links to the following:

Homework Helper/Electric Library (Infonautics, Inc.; Founded in 1992)
Search the Electric Library (eLibrary) by using a natural language or Boolean protocol. A Tracker service that sends search results via email is available. Useful search results--must become familiar with atypical search options and results. eLibrary also supports Encyclopedia.Com, which has a search option and a "browse by alphabet" directory.

Embark.com (Formerly CollegeEdge; San Francisco, CA; Founded in 1995)
Embark provides information related to: 1) accredited higher education institutions; 2) profiles on careers and majors; 3) financial aid data; 4) Online applications; and 5) products for university and high school admissions personnel.

BigChalk--HomeworkCentral.com, Inc. 
Resources for teachers, parents, and students by grade level for general education subjects (and a few specialized education areas). Indexes for more than 9,000 topics--links and documents are screened by appropriate professionals. A free membership option provides access to services site-related services.

The Internet Public Library (IPL): University of Michigan School of Information
The IPL's mission is to: "serve the public by finding, evaluating, selecting, organizing, describing, and creating quality information resources. …." This site includes a search option, and a browse-by-alphabet option for an author or title. The Teen and Youth directories have many age-specific learning resources.

Britannica.com
The 32-volumes of Encyclopedia Britannica are accessible via the Web. Other directories include current U.S. and World news, and links to many research-related sites. (Purchase options remain for the printed and CD-ROM versions.)

ERIC Clearinghouse on Information and Technology
This site includes digests, links, databases, and publications related to information (i.e., library services). Additionally, the technology section of this site has links to resources that address the use of computers for teaching and learning.

Lightspan
Since May 1999, LightSpan has been transformed into a commercial vendor for assessment, curriculum development, and professional development for K-12 students and teachers. 12/01

Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators
Useful information in the Subject Access and Additional Information directories. This site is a part of Discovery Channel School, therefore, commercial components are included.

Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE)--Search and Subjects
From arts to vocational education, this site provides links to Web-based educational resources and internship options that are supported by Federal Government agencies. A search option and a list of topics are provided.

The World Factbook 2000 (Central Intelligence Agency)
A literacy resource for those interested in information about other countries (i.e., Country Listing). The Reference Maps directory may be useful for students interested in geographical regions of the world. (The maps are in .jpeg / .jpg format--the download time will vary.)

Blue Web'n
A site sponsored by Pacific Bell. It includes a searchable database, a list of tutorials, projects, and lessons for most core subjects in high school or the general education curriculum in college.
